Crussol Château

Crussol Château is a Natura 2000 medieval heritage site. The earliest parts of the château date back to the 10th century.  The site dominates the Rhône Valley and is an emblem of the Rhône Crussol area.

Visitors can stroll around and discover the history and natural wealth on a guided tour, or as part of a family workshop.

The Crussol heyday 

Among the castle’s ruins, discover the daily lives of Crussol’s inhabitants in the Middle Ages. Visit the fortifications and dwellings to gains insights into the Medieval era. How did locals defend themselves from attack? What was daily life like? On the one-hour tour, our guides describe this magical place and the milestones in its history.

Crussol is a Sensitive Natural Area and a Natura 2000 site, and boasts a rich biodiversity including birds, orchids, ocellated lizards, bats and wild flowers, that all thrive in our mountains, ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem. Our specialised guides offer tours each summer.

From the terrace, the panorama takes in vast swathes of the Rhône valley, the Saint-Péray and Cornas vineyards and the Vercors mountains. And these are most definitely the best views over Crussol citadel and the surrounding vegetation.

It is the perfect place for discovering local produce, that you may opt to eat-in, including Ardèche organic ice-cream, plant-flavoured refreshments, and artisanal juices. Below, the Théâtre de Verdure plays host to countless events during the summer months.
