Crussol Château

 Thomas Obrien

You will love Crussol! The earliest parts of the fortress date back to the 10th century.

Moments to share as a family

This natural and historical location is one of the most emblematic spots in Ardèche. The site’s information desk provides insights into the many facets this extraordinary heritage offers; combining both areas of natural and historical interest.

You can also enjoy a refreshing break on the shop’s delightful terrace. From April onwards, the site comes to life and family workshops are held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays until June, and daily during the summer. A visit to the château is sure to win you over!

Children’s workshops

Family workshops take place on the terrace beneath a magnificent, century-old plane tree. The activities change each year and are suitable for 6- to 12-year-olds.

Children will certainly have a great time during these hands-on sessions. Enjoy a delightful moment as a family!

On the shoulders of the Crussol Gianteducational trail

This 1.5 km family trail takes about 1 and a half hours and teaches visitors about the mountains, guided by the Giant, who knows everything about Crussol and safeguards its ruins.

The marked trail features 7 stations to allow visitors to find out more about the ophrys, the stag beetle, the owly sulphur, the nightjar, the ocellated lizard, the Chicory-leaved Buckler-mustard and the blacksmith lapwing. Each station boasts interactive games and information signs.

You can explore the trail independently or collect a map from Crussol information desk or Tourist Office. The map enables you to gather clues and to access a chest at the end of the trail, somewhat like a treasure hunt.
